Discussion

Servant leadership is a valuable theory to enact change within society. From Gandhi to Martin Luther King, Jr., servant leadership highlights that a leader’s greatness may depend upon the way in which the leader serves his or her subordinates. With servant leadership, a leader transforms into a guide or teacher for subordinates, in turn creating subordinate autonomy and ownership in work. As a leader, empowering your subordinates and cultivating a vested interest in work might be the most essential components to develop for effective, servant leadership.

For this Discussion, select an event, not previously used in the course, which highlights techniques of servant leadership. For the event, consider whether or not the leadership techniques were effective. Also, consider the possibility of applying another leadership theory to the selected event. How may the outcomes change in relation to the application of a different leadership theory?

Post a brief description of the event you selected. Then, explain whether servant leadership was the most effective leadership perspective in the event you selected. Justify your response. Finally, explain how event outcomes might have been different with another leadership perspective.

Discussion

1.Give an example and details from national/international news of a bioterrorist attack.

Address all of the following in your post:

What was the classification of biological agent used in the attack?

Discuss the implications of the biological agent.

Discuss the therapy for the biological agent.

What are the decontamination procedures for the biological agent used in the attack?

Define the appropriate level of PPE required for this type of biological agent?

In your post, provide the name of the incident you have chosen, and support your answers with evidence/examples. Please provide a working link and a citation for your source(s).

In your replies to peers, compare the different biological agents, their implications and therapies. Discuss the different types of decontamination procedures and levels of PPE that would be required.

Support your answer with evidence from scholarly sources.

Assessing Neurological Symptoms

CASE STUDY 1: Headaches

A 20-year-old male complains of experiencing intermittent headaches. The headaches

diffuse all over the head, but the greatest intensity and pressure occurs above the eyes

and spreads through the nose, cheekbones, and jaw.

The Case Study Assignment

Use the Episodic/Focused SOAP Template and create an episodic/focused note about the patient in the case study to which you were assigned using the episodic/focused note template provided in the Week 5 resources. Provide evidence from the literature to support diagnostic tests that would be appropriate for each case. List five different possible conditions for the patient's differential diagnosis, and justify why you selected each.

Existential Humanistic therapy

Learning Objectives

Students will:

· Develop diagnoses for clients receiving psychotherapy*

· Evaluate efficacy of existential-humanistic therapy for clients*

· Analyze legal and ethical implications of counseling clients with psychiatric disorders*

· Analyze clinical supervision experiences*

For Part 1, select a client whom you observed or counseled this week (other than the client used for this week’s Discussion). Then, address the following in your Practicum Journal:

· Describe the client and identify any pertinent history or medical information, including prescribed medications.

· Using the DSM-5, explain and justify your diagnosis for this client.

· Explain whether existential-humanistic therapy would be beneficial with this client. Include expected outcomes based on this therapeutic approach.

· Explain any legal and/or ethical implications related to counseling this client.

· Support your approach with evidence-based literature.

For Part 2, reflect on your clinical supervision experiences. Then, address the following in your Practicum Journal:

· How often are you receiving clinical supervision from your preceptor?

· What are the sessions like?

· What is the preceptor bringing to your attention?

· How are you translating these sessions to your clinical practice? ( You don’t have to do Part 2)

Reflective Assessment

,"Introduction

You began this session considering a moral-ethical dilemma you yourself faced that you either resolved or failed to resolve, but hopefully learned from. You may never have given much thought to ethical theory nor what ethical premises/paradigms you have unconsciously held.

Instructions

Now that you have had an opportunity to explore ethics formally, create a reflective assessment of your learning experience and the collaborations you engaged in throughout this session.

 A written reflection

For the written reflection, revisit your ethical memoir and address the following:

What ethical theory best applies to your experience?

Which significant author you have studied most speaks to your own ethical paradigm as you are (re)forming it now?

If you did not resolve your ethical dilemma when you experienced it, what would you do now and why?

Discussion

1. Describe the characteristics of the aging process. Explain how some of the characteristics may lead to elder abuse (memory issues, vulnerability, etc.). Discuss the types of consideration a nurse must be mindful of while performing a health assessment on a geriatric patient as compared to a middle-aged adult. 2 Reference

2. End-of-life care becomes an issue at some point for elderly clients. Even with the emergence of palliative care programs and hospice programs, most elderly people do not die in their own home as is their preference. What are the reasons for this trend? Discuss what you can do as a nurse to support your clients regarding end-of-life care in accordance with their wishes. Support your response with evidence-based literature. 2 References

Psychological implications resulting from injuries and illnesses across the lifespan

The nurse’s role goes far beyond that which is expected. Nurses are the main communicators between patients, doctors, and family, and they care for more than just physical ailments. Often, nurses are presented with difficult situations where being an advocate becomes paramount to the healing of the patient. One of the issues that patients with acute and chronic illnesses or extended hospitalization face is a tendency to become depressed. The nurse’s role in this situation requires more than just attention to the physical problem. Another situation where a nurse may need to shift his or her care is when a patient presents with a suspicious injury or illness. In addition to considering the legal and ethical responsibilities of the nurse, he or she must consider the psychological undertones that may be present.

Consider delicate situations that nurses often face and analyze the implications of these situations. Reflect on a patient care situation in which you have encountered one of the following:

· A suspicious illness or injury

· Depression resulting from illness or injury

Then, locate at least 3 scholarly journal articles related to your patient care situation that offers strategies for managing the circumstances.

Respond to the following:

· Explain your patient encounter, highlighting the challenges the situation presented, and briefly summarize the contents of your journal article.

· What strategies did you employ to help handle the situation?

. What other strategies could you have used?

· How did you advocate for the patient in the situation?

· What are some of the legal and ethical implications that need to be considered when providing care for patients with illnesses or injuries resulting from depression or suspicious illnesses or injuries?

·

Support your response with references from the professional nursing literature.

Note Initial Post: A 5-paragraph (at least 550 words) response. Be sure to use evidence from the readings and include in-text citations. Utilize essay-level writing practice and skills, including the use of transitional material and organizational frames. Avoid quotes; paraphrase to incorporate evidence into your own writing. A reference list is required. Use the most current evidence (usually ≤ 5 years old).
